Mrs. Lissa Roberts To All Instructors
I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast! And when I run, I feel his pleasure.” - Eric Liddell
I haven’t run in decades, but like Eric Liddell, I feel His pleasure as I paint. Like God’s first act in creation to separate light from dark, the secret to beautiful art is the delicate act of separating the lights from the darks.
Sketching since I was old enough to hold a pencil, I began seriously honing my skill in 2010 where I attended the Baton Rouge Fine Art Academy at the Mandeville campus. I was an active member of three art leagues, taught workshops, and participated in numerous juried shows. One of my greatest honors was having my art selected for the prestigious River Road Art Show catalog cover.
In 2016 I became a “naturalized” Texan and fell in love with the state. Through divine intervention I had the opportunity to study with Western artist Martha Spurlock. I had the privilege of being the first show, after the pandemic at Tarleton State University’s Langdon Center Gallery in Granbury, TX.
Moving to Glen Rose in 2020, I have been a participant in the annual “Art on the Paluxy at Barnard Mill and Art Museum.” As a tribute to my new hometown, I have done a series of watercolors of the front doors of downtown courthouse square and share their history.
